Topography of the Holocaust in Breslau/Wrocław, 1933-1949 - project launch

A workshop inaugurating the international project “Topographie der Shoah in Breslau / Wrocław 1933-1949” (Topography of the Shoah in Breslau / Wrocław in 1933-1949) was held on 22-23 March in Wrocław. The project is run by the Technical University of Dresden, and the Jewish Studies Department is a partner. The workshop was prepared by Prof. Tim Buchen and Maria Luft in cooperation with prof. Marcin Wodziński.

Over two days, 26 project participants from 9 countries presented and discussed their research and various ways to study the spatial aspect of the Holocaust. The main goal of the workshop was to develop a common methodology in terms of sources as well as conceptual approach.

It is also worth adding that this was the first event organized by the Jewish Studies Department in its new reading room, prior to the formal opening of its new quarters (planned for June 2018).

The project research group will meet again in Dresden next year.
