Condolences on the passing of Tad Taube Z"L

We are saddened to learn of the death of Tad Taube (1931-2025), a great friend and benefactor of the Department of Jewish Studies, which has proudly borne his name for the past several years.

We knew him as an extraordinary philanthropist, human being, and friend. We remember fondly his visit to Wrocław University and our Department in 2017. The renovation of our premises and the current state of our Jewish Studies program are largely his accomplishment, and he delighted in our successes. Tad was invariably enthusiastic about our achievements, and was ever ready to discuss current events and future plans.

Tad changed the world thanks to his courage, foresight, and the power of his convictions. We have no doubt that his numerous initiatives will continue to make a positive impact on the state of academic Jewish studies, Jewish culture, and the preservation of Jewish heritage, tangible and intangible, in Poland, the land of his birth. And for that we are and will always be indebted to him.

We thank him for his friendship, for his sense of humor, and for his warmth, all of which we enjoyed for so many years. Tad Taube (Z”L), you shall be missed.

We extend our most sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.

The administration, faculty, students, and friends of the Department of Jewish Studies and the Foundation for Jewish Studies in Wroclaw
